Night of Keys Fundraiser Winners

Are you enjoying the summer break? We hope you have plans to do something ‘cool’ the next few days with the weather forecast predicting temperatures in the 90s!

This past weekend, the winners of the Night of Keys fundraiser had an opportunity to be at the lake/cottage with principal Young and Mrs. Young. They had a fantastic day with water fun at the pool and lake. Together, they mini golfed. Mr. Young cooked their dinner over the fire and they enjoyed some tasty s’mores. Yum!

To add a little excitement to the days activities, they had to take a break from the activities due to a rain and hail storm!

Thank you to the Young’s for sharing their weekend with the Destree family! Thank you Destree’s for supporting our school fundraisers!

Mark your calendars for next year’s big event “Light Up Lourdes” on November 11. Follow the event page to learn the latest about this upcoming event. Until then, relax, play and enjoy these summer days!

Teacher Spotlight: Lourain Eggart

Lourain is the Spanish teacher at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School in De Pere. In addition, Lourain also serves as the GRACE World Language Coordinator. She loves to inspire and bring joy to students as they immerse themselves in the Spanish language and culture.

What do you do as GRACE’s World Language Coordinator?

As the World Language Coordinator I have done my best to ensure that World Language Teachers feel prepared and have all the tools necessary for a successful year. I supplied curriculum training at the beginning of the year to help the teachers gain confidence with the program. In addition to that, I make myself available to provide assistance when needed.

What is the Spanish team currently working on in terms of curriculum development?

The World Language Team is currently working on Power Standards and developing a stronger exit assessment for our eighth graders.

How can teachers support world language development in their classrooms?

Teachers can support world language development in their classroom by giving kids the opportunity to explore other cultures and reinforce the oral skills they learn in their world language classes. This allows for students to be prepared to use their language skills not only in an academic environment but also socially and culturally.

OLOL Summer Reading Challenge 2023

Have your children started their summer reading?

All students in grades K-7 are challenged to read a certain number of books dependent on their grade level. Each child who completes the challenge and returns their slip by Tuesday, September 5, will receive a NUT card. In addition, the class with the highest participation rate will receive an extra recess, so there is big incentive!

The students received a hard copy of the challenge sheet before they left for summer break, but the forms are also available on the website here.

If your copy gets lost, feel free to email Mrs. Brys for a new one. She will be checking her email over the summer!

Happy reading!
